Bio | designsbytrena

My name is Trena Gologan and I am the new Community Relations Director at Rainbow Village. I am coming from Georgia Campus-Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, the only branch campus of PCOM which was founded in 1899, as the Assistant Director of Admissions. It was my responsibility to manage the department of 4 staff, up to 7 work-study students and over 30 student ambassadors for the last 7 years.

I was instrumental in designing the recruiting process for the Georgia campus which was established in 2005 to meet the rising need for healthcare professionals in the state. I am an innovator. I thrive in my profession by finding creative ways to introduce Rainbow Village to the community through various marketing avenues.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois and earned a Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from Colorado Technical University, Colorado Springs, Colorado, with post graduate work in Organizational Leadership and Change. I earned a certification in Health Information Technology from Gwinnett Technical College, Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Throughout more than my ten year career in higher education admissions, I have mentored and guided thousands of students as they discern their next steps, from high school to college to graduate school. I am a sought after speaker and have spoken to such national organizations as Old Premeds and the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions where I held regional and national membership.

My interests extend beyond the office to other pursuits such as personal coaching, event planning, artwork, writing, and volunteering. I am the illustrator and publisher of six books, and proceeds from my butterfly paintings have provided needed funds for the National Fibromyalgia Association (NFA), an organization that I have worked with to help increase awareness about the disorder. My artwork has been used for a clothing line. In 2009, I initiated and received a signed proclamation from former Georgia Governor Sonny Purdue to declare May 12 as the state’s Fibromyalgia Awareness Day each year. I am a certified event planner and have a certificate in event design. Examples of my work are found on my website along with awards, www.designsbytrena.wix.com/designsbytrena.

I am a 2014 Gwinnett Neighborhood Leadership Institute (GNLI) graduate in which my team designed a community service project to raise awareness about the mental health impact of sexting. The project is being used by resource officers, clinicians as well as a Future Business Leaders of America program in Sumter, South Carolina. I currently serve on the GNLI advisory board as chair, which also provides me a seat on the Gwinnett Coalition for Human and Health services advisory board.
